President Muizzu Continues Nationwide Island Visits with Tour of Dhaalu Atoll

By Hussain Shinan Published February 23, 2025

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has commenced a tour of Dhaalu Atoll, with plans to visit all its inhabited islands as part of his commitment to direct engagement with local communities.

The three-day visit, which began on Sunday afternoon, will see the President meeting with Atoll and Island Councils, Women’s Development Committees, and heads of various institutions across the atoll. Additionally, he is set to launch key development projects and inaugurate recently completed initiatives, reinforcing his administration’s focus on decentralized development.

President Muizzu has pledged to visit every inhabited island in the Maldives at least twice during his term. As part of this effort, he has already visited numerous islands across various atolls, holding discussions with island councils and residents to assess their most pressing needs. His ongoing series of island visits aims to strengthen government accountability and ensure communities are actively involved in national development plans.

Accompanied by Cabinet Ministers and senior government officials, the President will conclude his tour of Dhaalu Atoll on Tuesday and return to Malé City.

This visit follows his recent trips to other atolls, where he has consistently emphasized the importance of infrastructure development, improved public services, and increased economic opportunities in island communities. His administration has actively engaged in launching key projects across the country, including harbor developments, housing initiatives, and road construction projects.

President Muizzu’s tour of Dhaalu Atoll is expected to address local concerns while reinforcing his administration’s commitment to bridging development gaps across the Maldives.
