The Ministry of Finance has officially announced its search for technical advisors to support the highly anticipated Addu Bridge project, set to become the longest bridge in the Maldives. The bridge will connect the islands of Hithadhoo and Hulhumeedhoo in the southern atolls, marking a significant step in the nation’s infrastructure development.
In an announcement made earlier this week, the Ministry specified that it is looking for a consultancy firm capable of conducting surveys, preparing detailed designs, and drafting tender documents complete with technical specifications. This initiative is part of the government’s efforts to advance the project, which is expected to have a profound impact on connectivity and economic development in the region.
The Ministry of Finance is calling for Expressions of Interest (EOI) from qualified firms, with a submission deadline set for 1 p.m. on March 24. Interested parties must demonstrate their technical expertise and experience in similar infrastructure projects. After the EOI period, shortlisted candidates will be invited to submit full proposals for the project.
The Addu Bridge project has been in the works for several years. In March 2024, The Arab Contractors – Osman Ahmed Osman & Co. successfully completed preliminary surveys for the bridge. This marks an important milestone in the project’s progress, paving the way for further development and design work.
Once completed, the Addu Bridge will significantly improve transportation in the southern region, enhancing access to key areas and providing economic opportunities for residents. The project is expected to serve as a crucial link in the broader plans for infrastructure expansion across the Maldives.
