President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has announced that more than 550 development projects will commence across the Maldives within the next two months. The announcement was made during the first episode of Rayyithunnaa Eku, a podcast launched by the President to engage directly with the public and share updates on government initiatives.
According to President Muizzu, the projects have already been awarded to contractors and will progress at an accelerated pace. He emphasized that these developments will span the entire country, with visible progress expected in the coming weeks.
As part of the government’s broader infrastructure plan, the President revealed that within the next two years, every inhabited island in the Maldives will have a dedicated children’s park. Additionally, fitness centers will be established in all islands to promote community well-being.
“The work on these projects will move forward rapidly. People will soon see that we are managing the economy effectively while also providing necessary relief measures,” President Muizzu stated.
He also highlighted initiatives to support the fishing industry, noting that the government aims to make fuel available at subsidized rates in at least one island per province, matching the prices set by the State Trading Organization (STO).
The President reaffirmed that 2025 and 2026 will be years of rapid development, with a significant portion of this year’s budget allocated to infrastructure and public service projects.
