The Sanabil Building is envisioned as a seven-story mixed-use complex, designed to provide a steady income stream for IUM. It will house office spaces, meeting rooms, auditoriums, a food court, and commercial parking facilities. This initiative aligns with the government’s commitment to fortify educational institutions and promote self-sufficiency.
Launched as a Sukuk Istisna facility on August 11, 2024, the project attracted significant investment, with Bank of Maldives’ BML Islamic fully subscribing by the deadline. The construction is projected to span 18 months, reflecting a swift and efficient development timeline.
President Muizzu emphasized the importance of intellectual development alongside infrastructure in nation-building, stating that educational advancements are pivotal for the country’s progress.
This groundbreaking ceremony marks a pivotal moment in the Maldives’ journey towards educational excellence and economic resilience, reinforcing the government’s dedication to empowering institutions and fostering sustainable growth.
