President Dr Mohamed Muizzu departed for the United Kingdom last evening on an official visit aimed at further reinforcing the Maldives’ close ties with one of its most important international partners.
Accompanied by a high-level government delegation, President Muizzu is scheduled to attend a series of high-level meetings focused on deepening cooperation in areas such as governance, climate action, environmental protection, trade, investment, and education. In addition, he will participate in a major business forum in London, where he is expected to promote the Maldives as a leading destination for investment and highlight the country’s commitment to sustainable development.
This visit comes at a historic moment, as the Maldives and the United Kingdom mark 60 years since establishing diplomatic relations on July 26, 1965. The milestone underscores a relationship built on mutual respect, trust, and shared values.
President Muizzu’s engagements in the UK are expected to open new avenues for collaboration and further elevate the Maldives’ profile on the global stage.
