In a vibrant display of unity and cultural pride, Malé’s residents gathered to celebrate Eid al-Fitr, an event orchestrated under the insightful leadership of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu. The festivities, spanning multiple locations across the capital, showcased the nation’s rich heritage and the administration’s commitment to fostering communal harmony.
The “Eid Haveeru 1446” celebrations commenced on Sunday afternoon, a collaborative effort led by the Ministry of Defence alongside the Ministry of Sports, Fitness and Recreation, the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF), Maldives Police Service (MPS), and several state-owned enterprises. This joint initiative transformed areas such as Sultan Park, the Victory Monument vicinity, and Republic Square into hubs of joy and cultural expression.
Families reveled in a plethora of activities designed for all ages, from traditional games to cultural performances that bridged the past with the present. Children’s laughter echoed as they explored MNDF vehicles, capturing cherished moments that will undoubtedly grace family albums for years to come. The MNDF’s special weapons display, brass band performances, and silent drills captivated audiences, highlighting the nation’s disciplined prowess.
President Muizzu, accompanied by the First Family, graced the celebrations with their presence, embodying the spirit of togetherness that Eid epitomizes. Upon arrival, the President was accorded a ceremonial welcome, after which he and his family engaged with various stalls set up by participating companies. A heartwarming moment unfolded at the Izzuddin Jetty, where President Muizzu joined children in cutting a specially prepared Eid cake, symbolizing the shared joy of the occasion.
As dusk settled, the festivities transitioned to Hulhumalé’s Central Park. Organized by the Housing Development Corporation (HDC), the evening sky was illuminated by a mesmerizing drone show. Drones danced in unison, painting vivid representations of Maldivian culture and the nation’s natural splendor. The grand finale featured a spectacular fireworks display, leaving attendees in awe and marking a fitting conclusion to a day of jubilation.
And that's a wrap! A night filled with joy, light, and unforgettable moments.
