The Bahamas-registered cruise ship Crystal Symphony arrived in Malé, bringing 212 tourists to the Maldives as part of its latest voyage. The vessel, which sailed from Seychelles, is set to continue its journey to Sri Lanka after spending a day exploring the Maldives.
According to the Maldives Association for Yacht Agents (MAYA), Crystal Symphony is the fourth cruise ship to arrive in the Maldives during the current high season for tourism. On December 30, two additional cruise ships from Seychelles docked in the Maldives, carrying over 3,000 tourists combined.
MAYA also revealed that 12 more cruise ships are scheduled to dock in the Maldives before the end of the peak season, reflecting the growing popularity of the archipelago among luxury cruise travelers.
Tourism statistics indicate a strong start to 2025, with over 43,000 tourist arrivals recorded during the first week of the year—a 9.7% increase compared to the same period last year.
As the Maldives continues to attract cruise liners from around the world, the influx of tourists via these vessels is contributing to the country’s thriving tourism industry, reinforcing its status as a premier global travel destination.
