The National Junior Surfing Championship concluded successfully at Lonuziyaaraiykolhu, Malé, after three days of competitive action showcasing the country’s emerging surf talent. A total of 33 young athletes competed across four categories: Under 18 Boys, Under 18 Girls, Under 16 Boys, and Under 14 Boys.

This year’s edition marked a milestone for the sport, as it was the first time girls participated in a junior surfing championship in the Maldives, signaling growing inclusivity and progress in the nation’s surf scene.
The event was organized by the Maldives Surfing Association (MSA) and supported by the Bank of Maldives (BML) under its ongoing partnership as the official sponsor of both the national senior and junior surfing teams. The Bank’s sponsorship aims to strengthen local surf development programs, providing young athletes with the resources and opportunities to hone their skills and represent the country in regional and international competitions.

Through its collaboration with MSA, BML continues to play a vital role in nurturing the next generation of Maldivian surfers and promoting sports as a pathway for youth empowerment and community engagement.
