In a spirited display of community service, approximately 100 employees from Bank of Maldives Islamic banking (BML Islamic) gathered this morning to rejuvenate the boundary walls of five of Malé City’s most historic mosques. This initiative aligns with the City Council’s preparations for the upcoming Ramadan.
The mosques that benefited from this endeavor include:
- Malé Hukuru Miskiy: Renowned for its intricate coral stone architecture and rich history.
- Dharumavantha Rasgefaanu Miskiy: A testament to the Maldives’ Islamic heritage.
- Masjidhul Sultan Mohamed Shamsuddin (Bandaara Miskiy): Noted for its unique design and historical significance.
- Masjidul Sultanul Adil: A prominent place of worship with deep-rooted cultural importance.
This activity continues BML staff’s tradition of community service, following similar initiatives from previous years, which included mosque painting and cleaning projects across the country.
BML Islamic’s commitment to community engagement is further exemplified by their recent ‘Bank Fund’ initiative, launched to empower NGOs to contribute to their communities through sustainable projects. The fund invites proposals that promote sustainability and provide social opportunities, with selected projects receiving financial support.
As Ramadan approaches, the efforts of BML Islamic’s staff not only enhance the aesthetic appeal of these sacred sites but also reinforce the spirit of unity and service within the community.
