Bank of Maldives has secured international recognition after Qorus named the institution the winner of the “Outstanding Achievement of the Year in Financial Inclusion” at the Reinvent Forum Dubai 2025. The accolade places BML among the top performers in global financial accessibility initiatives.
The award highlights the impact of BML’s nationwide ATM expansion under the landmark “Mulhi Raajje ah BML ATM” project, completed on 28 October 2025. Through this initiative, the Bank installed Self Service Banking units on every inhabited island, guaranteeing universal access to essential banking services. The rollout delivered ATM facilities to 105 islands in nine months, a shift that has significantly improved daily financial convenience for communities across the Maldives.
Speaking on the achievement, CEO and Managing Director Mohamed Shareef said the recognition affirms the Bank’s long term vision. He noted that being present in every inhabited island reflects a commitment to equitable access to financial services and added that the Bank will continue to enhance customer experience through further upgrades and innovation.
Qorus, a global financial sector network comprising more than 1,200 institutions across over 120 countries, positions the award as one of the sector’s most respected benchmarks of excellence.
As the Maldives leading financial institution, BML operates 42 branches across all atolls, supported by 202 Self Service Banking Centres, 262 ATMs and a growing portfolio of digital banking solutions. The international award reinforces the Bank’s role in advancing nationwide financial inclusion through infrastructure development and technology driven services.
