Decrease in Drug and Theft Cases, Rise in Accidents Reported Last Year

Recent statistics indicate a decline in both drug-related and theft cases reported to the police in 2024 compared to the previous year. Police records reveal that 1,662 drug-related incidents were reported in 2024, a decrease from 1,752 in 2023. Similarly, theft cases have dropped, with 3,751 incidents reported last year, down from 3,817 the previous year.

However, despite these positive trends, there has been an uptick in accident reports. By the end of 2024, police received reports of 2,867 accident incidents, marking an increase from the 2,300 cases recorded in 2023. The Male’ area experienced the highest number of accidents, with March being the peak month at 301 cases.

The past year also saw reports of other types of incidents: 711 assault cases, 665 instances of property damage, 654 embezzlement cases, 504 robberies, and 248 domestic violence cases.
