The vessel, carrying 45 passengers and three crew members, sank amid massive waves en route from Alif Dhaalu Dhigurah to Malé City on Sunday morning.

The Maldives Police Service received reports of the ‘Huvan’ sinking at 7:57 a.m. Emergency response teams were swiftly dispatched, ensuring the safe evacuation of all 48 individuals on board, including four children. All passengers and crew were transported back to Dhigurah and are in good health.
Commissioner of Police Ali Shujau also commended the officers involved, expressing confidence in the dedication of the Maldives Police Service and highlighting their hard work over the past twenty years to ensure the safety and security of the nation.
A thorough investigation is underway to determine the cause of the incident. Authorities have not yet disclosed further details.
