Registrations for the highly anticipated Dhiraagu 3X3 Challenge will officially close today, 24 February 2026, as teams prepare for one of the Maldives’ most dynamic grassroots basketball tournaments.
The competition is scheduled to run from 1 to 7 March at the Social Center Outdoor Court in Malé, bringing together young athletes, seasoned players, and even parents in a week-long showcase of fast-paced 3×3 basketball.
Organised by Titans Basketball Academy, the annual tournament has grown into a key fixture in the local sporting calendar. Last year’s edition drew 408 players representing 103 teams, reflecting the rapid rise in popularity of 3×3 basketball across the country.
Wide Range of Divisions
This year’s competition features two main categories designed to broaden participation and nurture talent across age groups.
Under the Academy Category, boys and girls will compete in Under 8, Under 10, and Under 12 divisions. The Open Category expands the playing field with Under 14, Under 16, and Under 18 divisions for both boys and girls, alongside Men’s Division 1, Men’s Division 2, Women’s Open, and dedicated Parents divisions for men and women.
The diverse lineup underscores a deliberate effort to promote inclusive participation while building a structured pathway for youth development in basketball.
Driving Community Sport
As title sponsor, Dhiraagu continues to position sport as a pillar of community development. The company has consistently backed youth-focused initiatives aimed at encouraging active lifestyles and strengthening the national sports ecosystem.
3×3 basketball, officially recognized by FIBA and now an Olympic discipline, has gained strong momentum globally for its accessibility and high-intensity format. In the Maldives, the format has proven especially effective in engaging young players and expanding the reach of the sport beyond traditional club structures.
With the registration deadline expiring today, organisers expect another strong turnout as teams finalize entries for what promises to be a competitive and high-energy week on the court.
The Dhiraagu 3X3 Challenge continues to cement its status as a flagship platform for emerging basketball talent while reinforcing the broader push toward healthier, more active communities nationwide.
