The Maldives’ esports scene reached a new high today as Dhiraagu Maldives Gaming Conquest (DMGC) 2025 officially opened at Ghiyasuddin International School, attracting over 1,500 gamers from across the nation in what is now the largest gaming event ever held in the country.
Spanning three action-packed days, DMGC 2025 features a four-title competitive tournament format, providing a dynamic platform for local gamers to demonstrate their skills and compete for a total prize pool of MVR 170,000.
Addressing attendees at the opening ceremony, Mirshan Hassan, Dhiraagu’s Director of Brand & Marketing Communications, emphasized the event’s broader mission.
“Today marks a key milestone in the history of gaming in the Maldives as we host the nation’s largest esports tournament. Through Dhiraagu Gamers’ Guild (DGG), we are creating meaningful opportunities to showcase local talent, while actively promoting Responsible Gaming, which is a core value that guides our efforts to build a sustainable and thriving gaming community” he said.
Beyond the main tournament, DMGC 2025 offers a variety of interactive zones to engage both players and spectators. These include a Racing Simulation Zone, Virtual Reality (VR) experiences, Free-to-Play stations, and classic board games, delivering a festival-like atmosphere for casual and competitive gamers alike.
Adding to the event’s appeal, a curated selection of retail and food stalls are available on-site, offering exclusive discounts on gaming gear, refreshments, and merchandise—further enhancing the overall experience for attendees.
