The notorious Hassan Kurusee account, known for its controversial posts accusing top government officials of corruption and embezzlement, was suspended on Sunday night. This account, followed by over 40,000 users, has faced suspension multiple times over the past two years, yet consistently managed to return to the platform.
Following this recent suspension, numerous accounts have emerged under the name Hassan Kurusee in attempts to impersonate the original. Speculation previously linked the account to former Maldivian President Mohamed Nasheed, particularly after he acknowledged a separate account, ‘Alex Ahmed,’ as his unofficial presence online. However, in April 2023, Nasheed distanced himself from these claims, stating that the anonymous account was damaging his reputation. Consequently, he filed a police complaint to uncover the true identity of the individual behind it.
In August 2023, a court order was issued in response to a police petition aimed at advancing the investigation into the matter. The ongoing developments continue to captivate attention as authorities seek to resolve the situation surrounding the infamous account.
