“Empowering Our Youth Is the Foundation of a Stronger, More Inclusive Maldives” – President Muizzu

By Ahmed Ashraf Published August 12, 2025

On International Youth Day, President Dr Mohamed Muizzu delivered a powerful message, calling for a united national effort to empower young Maldivians and ensure their voices shape decisions at every level — from island councils to global forums — in pursuit of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and beyond.

In a post on his official X account, the President urged leaders and institutions to invest in the creative talents of the nation’s youth, equipping them with the tools and resources to build their future. He praised young Maldivians for breaking barriers and proving that age is no obstacle to making a real difference, noting that by 2030, youth will represent 57% of the global population — making their participation in governance and development more crucial than ever.

Highlighting his administration’s initiatives, President Muizzu pointed to the creation of the Presidential Youth Advisory Board, a direct channel for young voices to influence national policies, build partnerships, and transform innovative ideas into solutions. He also cited the ongoing development of “Zuvaanunge Third Space”, a skills and dialogue hub designed to foster personal growth, community engagement, and inclusive progress.

The President reaffirmed his vision for youth leadership in building a robust digital economy, ensuring housing priority for young families, and supporting entrepreneurial ideas that can drive the Maldives toward a more connected, prosperous future.

Concluding his message, President Muizzu pledged his administration’s unwavering commitment to recognising youth as agents of change, celebrating diversity in development, and ensuring that the benefits of national progress are shared by all.

“Empowering our youth is not an option — it is the foundation of a stronger, more inclusive Maldives” he declared.
