Physical installation works have officially commenced on the nationwide ‘Cool School’ project, a major government initiative contracted to Fenaka Corporation to air-condition public schools across the Maldives.
The project is being implemented by the Ministry of Education under the guidance of President Dr Mohamed Muizzu, with the goal of delivering a long-term solution to the rising classroom temperatures that have increasingly challenged both students and teachers.
According to a briefing issued by Fenaka, the programme is designed to cover all schools nationwide, with the current phase prioritising the Greater Male’ Region, where installation works are actively progressing.
Fenaka confirmed that indoor air-conditioning units have already been installed in 75 percent of schools in the Greater Male’ Region, marking a significant milestone in what the government has positioned as a practical, student-focused reform aimed at improving learning environments.
The company further stated that it aims to complete all physical installation works in Greater Male’ Region schools before the start of the new academic year, ensuring classrooms are equipped and ready ahead of student return.
Fenaka noted that it will continue issuing progress updates as the project advances, reinforcing the administration’s commitment to delivering modern, comfortable, and climate-resilient education facilities nationwide.
The ‘Cool School’ programme is a key initiative launched under President Dr Mohamed Muizzu, reflecting his government’s focus on strengthening essential public services and raising the standard of education infrastructure across the Maldives.
