Fenaka Waives November Water Bills in Fuvahmulah After Supply Disruptions

By Hussain Shinan Published December 2, 2025

Fenaka Corporation has announced it will waive water bills for all customers in Fuvahmulah City for the month of November, following prolonged disruptions to the island’s water supply.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, Fenaka said residents faced significant inconvenience in recent weeks due to water shortages and low pressure, as urgent repair and maintenance work was carried out on the city’s water network. The decision to forgo billing, the company said, was taken to ease the financial burden on households affected by the disruptions.

Fenaka added that work is continuing to upgrade and strengthen the water supply system in Fuvahmulah, with the aim of improving service reliability and water quality in the long term. The corporation also thanked residents for their patience and cooperation while repairs were underway.

Water services in Fuvahmulah were suspended on 10 November after impurities were detected in the distribution network, triggering an inter-agency response. The operation involved Fenaka Corporation, the Maldives Food and Drug Authority, the Health Protection Agency, and the Maldives National Defence Force.

During the suspension, the MNDF transported bottled water by both sea and air, distributing thousands of litres to ensure residents had access to safe drinking water. Authorities confirmed that the issue was fully resolved by 13 November 2025, allowing normal water services to resume.

Fenaka said the waiver reflects its commitment to supporting communities during service disruptions while continuing efforts to improve essential utility infrastructure across the country
