Sajidha Mohamed on Friday evening inaugurated the campaign office of the People’s National Congress (PNC) for the North Maafannu constituency in Malé City.
The opening ceremony was attended by party officials, supporters and candidates contesting in the upcoming Local Council and Women’s Development Committee (WDC) elections. Addressing those gathered, the North Maafannu council candidate and the WDC candidate expressed appreciation to the First Lady for her presence and for engaging with campaign activities.

Senior government officials were also in attendance, including Minister of Cities, Local Government and Public Works Adam Shareef Umar and Minister of Economic Development and Trade Mohamed Saeed. Both ministers called on residents of North Maafannu to support PNC candidates in the April 4, 2026 elections.
The ruling party is fielding the highest number of candidates in the upcoming Local Council and WDC polls. Campaign activities have intensified nationwide in recent weeks, with a particular emphasis on key constituencies within Malé City.
The inauguration of the North Maafannu office marks another step in the PNC’s preparations as parties continue outreach efforts ahead of the local elections.
