From Diplomacy to Dormitory: President Muizzu Gives Rosemont Back to Maldivian Students

By Ahmed Ashraf Published April 4, 2025

In a decisive move to bolster Maldivian student welfare in the United Kingdom, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has reinstated the property at No. 9 Rosemont Avenue, London, as the official premises of the Maldivian Students’ Association-UK (MSA-UK). This property, historically a sanctuary and support hub for Maldivian students, had been repurposed in 2019 for diplomatic functions by the Maldivian High Commission. Effective immediately, it returns to its original purpose, serving as both accommodation and a communal center under MSA-UK’s stewardship.

Currently visiting the UK, President Muizzu engaged directly with Maldivian students in Leeds this afternoon, hosting a luncheon to discuss their academic journeys and personal well-being. Demonstrating his administration’s unwavering commitment, he attentively addressed their challenges and assured them of proactive measures to enhance their educational experience abroad.

This initiative underscores President Muizzu’s dedication to nurturing Maldivian communities overseas. By reinstating No. 9 Rosemont Avenue to MSA-UK, he not only revives a cherished institution but also strengthens the bonds among Maldivian students in the UK, ensuring they have a supportive environment to thrive academically and personally.
