On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the Maldives and Singapore, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has sent warm greetings to Singapore’s leadership, including President Tharman Shanmugaratnam and Prime Minister Lawrence Wong, as well as to the people of Singapore.
In his letters addressed to both the President and Prime Minister, President Muizzu expressed his appreciation for the strong ties between the two nations. He highlighted the growing diplomatic, trade, and people-to-people exchanges that have strengthened the relationship over the years. President Muizzu also shared his optimism for the future, emphasizing his hope for increased collaboration that will bring mutual benefits to both countries.
Reflecting on the close partnership, the President pointed out that the significant rise in high-level exchanges has played a key role in deepening the bilateral ties. These ongoing engagements have contributed to the progress of both nations, paving the way for future opportunities and cooperation.
In addition to his official messages, President Muizzu conveyed his personal best wishes for the health and well-being of both President Shanmugaratnam and Prime Minister Wong, as well as for the continued prosperity of Singapore and its people.
The Maldives and Singapore officially established diplomatic relations on February 20, 1975. This milestone marks five decades of fruitful partnership, with the two countries continually working together to advance mutual interests.
To commemorate the anniversary, President Muizzu also shared a message on his official ‘X’ account, celebrating the lasting relationship between the Maldives and Singapore.
