Distribution of tuna can cases, the government’s annual Ramadan gift to households, will begin in the Greater Malé area on Saturday, authorities have confirmed.
The distribution process was outlined during a press conference held by the task force overseeing the operation, where Minister of Local Governance Adam Shareef said households will be required to obtain a token number before collecting their allocation.
Registration for tokens opened today through the Roadha Hadhiyaa portal, accessible at roadhahadhiya.mv. According to the minister, the portal is being managed with the support of the Maldives Police Service to streamline the process and reduce congestion at distribution centres.
Distribution in Malé City, Vilimale’ and Hulhumalé’ will take place daily except Fridays, between 8:30 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. Authorities aim to complete the process for all eligible households by February 11.
As in previous years, each household will receive a case containing 48 cans of tuna. The government distributed the same Ramadan gift last year as part of efforts to support households during the fasting month.
A total of 15 distribution centres have been established across the Greater Malé region to facilitate the process. These include eight centres in Malé City, one in Vilimale’, and six in Hulhumalé’.
Outside the capital region, the State Trading Organization (STO) will continue supplying canned tuna to islands and city areas, with local councils responsible for managing distribution in their respective communities.
The Roadha Hadhiyaa portal will remain open for registration throughout the distribution period, which runs from January 24 until February 11. Authorities said multiple government ministries and state-owned enterprises are involved in the nationwide effort.
Members of the public who encounter issues in receiving their tuna allocation have been advised to submit complaints via WhatsApp on 7741446.
