President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu received an enthusiastic reception from the residents of K. Gulhi upon his arrival this afternoon as part of his official visit to the island.
Crowds gathered at the harbor area to greet the President, reflecting the community’s warm hospitality. Residents, including local leaders and families, lined the area to welcome him with smiles and waves as he stepped onto the island.
During his one-day visit, President Muizzu is scheduled to hold discussions with the Gulhi Island Council and the Women’s Development Committee (WDC). Additionally, he plans to meet with the wider community to listen to their concerns and discuss ongoing and future developmental initiatives for the island.
This visit to Gulhi marks the President’s first island tour of the year and is part of a broader series of visits aimed at engaging directly with island councils and communities across the nation. President Muizzu has previously emphasized the importance of these visits, stating that they allow him to understand the unique challenges faced by each community and foster closer ties between the government and the people.
So far, the President has met with representatives from over 190 councils across the Maldives. He has reiterated his commitment to visiting every residential island in the country and has set a goal to complete these visits by the end of 2025.
