The Maldivian government has strongly denounced recent Israeli airstrikes in Gaza, which targeted a school and a medical warehouse, resulting in civilian casualties and the destruction of vital humanitarian supplies.

In a statement issued on April 5, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed deep concern over the bombing of Dar Al-Arqam School in Gaza, where dozens were reportedly killed. The school, which had been serving as a shelter for internally displaced Palestinians, was among the latest civilian infrastructures to come under Israeli bombardment.

The government also condemned the destruction of a medical warehouse run by the Saudi Centre for Culture and Heritage in the Morag area of Rafah. The facility had been storing critical medical supplies intended for civilians affected by the ongoing conflict.

Reiterating its call for peace and protection of civilian life, the Maldives urged the international community to intervene urgently to halt Israel’s continued military aggression in the Gaza Strip. The government also emphasized the importance of ensuring unrestricted humanitarian access to those in need across the region.

In its statement, the Maldives reaffirmed its long-standing support for the Palestinian people and reiterated its commitment to the establishment of an independent and sovereign State of Palestine, based on pre-1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.

The latest statement comes amid growing international criticism of Israel’s military operations in Gaza, which have led to severe humanitarian consequences and drawn condemnation from multiple nations and rights organizations.
