The Ministry of Defense has declared the initiation of armed military training exercises in the Malé area, commencing this Sunday. These operations are slated to continue until April 5, with activities scheduled every Sunday and Thursday from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM, and on Mondays from 10:00 PM to 1:00 AM.
The exercises will be conducted across the first and second phases of Hulhumalé, featuring soldiers equipped in full combat gear and carrying weapons. The Ministry emphasizes that these drills are routine procedures aimed at enhancing the readiness and operational capabilities of the Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF).
Residents in the vicinity are advised to remain informed about the training schedules and to exercise caution during these periods. The Ministry assures the public that all necessary safety measures are in place to prevent any disruptions or hazards.
Such training exercises are a common practice among nations to ensure their military forces are prepared for various scenarios. For instance, the European Union is conducting its annual military exercise, MILEX 25, which includes both command post and live exercises to test the effectiveness of military command structures and procedures during crisis management situations.
The MNDF remains committed to maintaining national security and appreciates the public’s understanding and cooperation during these training periods.
