The newly appointed High Commissioner of the Maldives to India, Aishath Azeema, officially presented her letter of credence to Indian President Droupadi Murmu on Monday, February 17, 2025. The ceremony took place at Rashtrapati Bhavan, the official residence of the Indian President, in New Delhi.
During the event, President Murmu warmly welcomed High Commissioner Azeema and congratulated her on assuming her new role. In turn, High Commissioner Azeema extended heartfelt greetings from President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu and the people of the Maldives, while also expressing gratitude for India’s continued support in the socio-economic development of the Maldives.
The High Commissioner reaffirmed the commitment of the Maldives government to strengthen the enduring bilateral relationship between the two nations. She emphasized her dedication to working closely with India to enhance the existing ties and deepen cooperation in various fields.
This year marks a significant milestone for both nations, as they celebrate the 60th anniversary of establishing formal diplomatic relations. The anniversary is seen as a key opportunity to reflect on the longstanding partnership between the Maldives and India and to look forward to further enhancing the cooperation in the years to come.
