The Government of Maldives has reaffirmed its firm support for the internationally recognised legitimate Government of the Republic of Yemen, as the situation in the country continues to evolve.
In a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Maldivian government said it is closely monitoring developments in Yemen, underscoring its commitment to regional peace, sovereignty, and political legitimacy.
Maldives welcomed the call by Yemen’s Presidential Leadership Council to initiate inclusive and comprehensive talks aimed at achieving a negotiated political settlement through dialogue. The government described the appeal as a constructive step toward ending prolonged instability and addressing the aspirations of the Yemeni people.
The statement also welcomed the initiative of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to host a conference in Riyadh, noting the Kingdom’s continued role in supporting Yemen’s security, stability, and unity. Maldives reaffirmed its support for diplomatic efforts that prioritise dialogue over conflict and foster a sustainable, Yemeni-led political solution.
Maldives reiterated that lasting peace in Yemen can only be achieved through inclusive negotiations and international cooperation grounded in respect for legitimacy, dialogue, and regional stability.
