Maldivian Umrah Flight Departs Jeddah Safely After Quick Technical Assessment

By Ahmed Ashraf Published August 9, 2025

A Maldivian-operated Umrah return flight departed Jeddah on Saturday after a brief delay, following a precautionary technical inspection to ensure passenger safety.

Flight Q2 6360, chartered by the Hajj Corporation to bring home Maldivian pilgrims, was scheduled to depart Jeddah at 15:00 (Maldives time). Shortly before take-off, crew members identified a potential technical issue, prompting an immediate assessment by engineers in Jeddah.

The inspection was completed in just over an hour, after which the aircraft was cleared for departure. Passengers remained onboard during the process, and the airline prioritised keeping the flight schedule as close to planned as possible.

Maldivian’s decision to delay the flight until it was fully cleared underscores the airline’s commitment to passenger safety, especially on vital religious travel routes. Such measures, industry experts note, are standard practice to prevent risks and ensure mechanical integrity before long-haul flights.

The Maldives Hajj Corporation and Maldivian have successfully managed multiple Umrah and Hajj operations this season, facilitating safe and timely travel for hundreds of Maldivian pilgrims.
