Segment 2 of the Malé Northside Boduthakurufaanu Magu Road Development Project has recorded significant progress, with Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) confirming the completion of several critical construction stages.
According to MTCC, all 260 metres of sheet piling works under Segment 2 have now been fully completed, marking the conclusion of a key structural phase. In addition, 105 metres of quay wall capping concrete have been finished, strengthening the harbour-side edge of the project area.

Reclamation works are continuing steadily and have now reached 65 percent completion, while panel installation works are also progressing well. These developments follow earlier milestones achieved under Segment 2, including anchor block installation, utility upgrades, and preparatory groundwork to support reclamation and surface construction.
Previous updates confirmed near completion of water and wastewater network upgrades, alongside works on building-side sidewalks, stormwater catch pits, and cable junction installations. Harbour-side sidewalk paving and settlement tank installations have also been prepared as the project moves into advanced stages.

The road development project is a pledge of President Dr Mohamed Muizzu, who has repeatedly stressed the importance of delivering faster, safer, and more resilient infrastructure in the capital. The President has earlier stated that Segment 2 is targeted for completion before Ramadan, setting a clear benchmark for implementation.
Once completed, the upgraded corridor is expected to significantly enhance accessibility in Malé City through modern, pedestrian-friendly roads, improved traffic flow, and strengthened stormwater drainage systems designed to reduce flooding during heavy rainfall.
