The Ministry of Homeland Security and Technology has undergone significant reforms to become a results-oriented institution dedicated to safeguarding citizens, according to Minister Ali Ihusaan. The announcement was made during the closing ceremony of the 37th basic training course for the Maldives Police Service (MPS) in Addu City.
Held at the National College of Policing and Law Enforcement, the event featured prominent attendees, including Minister of Education Dr. Ismail Shafeeu, who served as the guest of honor, and Amit Garg, Director of the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy (SVPNPA) in India.
In his address to the graduates, Minister Ihusaan emphasized the vital role they will play in maintaining national security and called on them to uphold integrity and professionalism in their duties. He also reflected on the progress made by the Maldives Police Service over the past year, encouraging the force to aim for even greater achievements.
Minister Ihusaan outlined the recent reforms within the Homeland Security Ministry, designed to enhance its operational efficiency and ensure citizen safety. As part of the ministry’s initiatives, the Indian government has pledged $8.5 million for the renovation of the National College of Policing and Law Enforcement, further strengthening the infrastructure available for training law enforcement personnel.
The ceremony marks another milestone in the government’s broader efforts to equip the Maldives Police Service with the tools and training necessary to address emerging challenges and protect the nation’s citizens.
The graduating officers now join a workforce tasked with upholding peace and order, aligning with the administration’s commitment to bolstering security measures across the country.
