The Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA) has introduced a new customer support hotline specifically designed to handle issues related to the country’s instant payment platform, Favara, in a move aimed at strengthening service reliability and user experience.
The hotline, 1544, was officially launched during a ceremony led by MMA Governor Ahmed Munawar. The service will be managed by Payments Maldives Private Limited, a subsidiary operating under the central bank.
According to MMA, the newly introduced line will serve as a dedicated channel for addressing complaints related to digital payment services, including transaction issues encountered on Favara. By separating these concerns from general financial complaints, the authority aims to provide quicker and more efficient resolutions for users of the platform.
The central bank noted that its existing hotline, 1444, will remain active to handle broader financial service inquiries and complaints, ensuring continuity in overall customer support.
Officials emphasized that the initiative forms part of a broader effort to enhance operational efficiency within the Maldives’ financial ecosystem. With the increasing adoption of instant payment systems across the country, improving accessibility to responsive customer support has become a key priority.
MMA added that strengthening complaint-handling mechanisms is expected to boost public trust in the nation’s growing digital banking infrastructure, as more individuals and businesses turn to fast, real-time payment solutions.
