MTCC Announces Discount Scheme for Fishermen Through New Union Partnership

By Ahmed Ashraf Published 13 hours ago

Maldives Transport and Contracting Company has entered into a partnership agreement with the Bodu Kanneli Masveringe Union, marking the first time the state-owned enterprise has formalised a collaboration with a non-governmental organisation to support the fishing community.

The agreement was signed on the sidelines of the ongoing Maldives Marine Expo 2026, underscoring MTCC’s expanding role in strengthening the country’s fisheries and marine services sector.

Under the partnership, members of the Bodu Kanneli Masveringe Union will receive preferential discounts on selected #MTCCKashavaru products. MTCC will offer a 10 percent discount on Yanmar spare parts and an 8 percent discount on Castrol marine lubricant products, easing operational costs for local fishermen.

MTCC stated that the initiative is aimed at improving access to essential marine equipment at more affordable prices, directly supporting the livelihoods of Maldivian fishermen who rely heavily on reliable engines and quality lubricants for daily operations.

The company highlighted that this partnership reflects a broader commitment to inclusive engagement with fishing communities and industry groups, while reinforcing MTCC’s position as a key provider of marine solutions tailored to national needs.

By extending targeted discounts through organised associations, MTCC aims to ensure that high-quality marine products remain accessible, affordable, and aligned with the sustainability of the Maldives’ vital fisheries sector.
