By Ahmed Ashraf Published February 4, 2025

In a ceremony held at the President’s Office, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu received the Letters of Credence from two newly appointed ambassadors, marking significant strides in the Maldives’ diplomatic engagements.

Nicholas David Low, the new British High Commissioner to the Maldives, was escorted from Republic Square to the President’s Office in a traditional “Haiykolhu” procession, accompanied by the MNDF Drum and Trumpet Band. Following the formal presentation of his credentials, President Muizzu and High Commissioner Low discussed avenues to bolster bilateral relations, focusing on higher education cooperation, tourism, and collaborative efforts to combat climate change. Diplomatic ties between the Maldives and the United Kingdom have been robust since their establishment on 26th July 1965.
