Newly appointed Commissioner of Police Ahmed Mohamed paid a courtesy call on Chief of Defence Force Ibrahim Hilmy at the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) Headquarters today, marking one of his first official engagements since assuming office.
According to Maldives Police Service, the meeting served as an introductory interaction between the heads of the country’s two key security institutions. Discussions focused on strengthening cooperation and coordination between the police and the military.

Ahmed Mohamed, who was appointed Commissioner of Police just days ago, brings more than three decades of experience to the role. Having joined the police service in 1995, he has held several senior positions across operational and investigative divisions, earning recognition for his leadership within the force.
His appointment, made by President Mohamed Muizzu, marks a significant transition in the leadership of the Maldives Police Service.
Officials said the meeting reflects a continued commitment to enhancing collaboration between institutions responsible for national security, particularly in areas requiring joint coordination and strategic alignment.
