Implemented by Maldives Transport and Contracting Company, the project has recorded steady progress across key components. Demolition of the existing quay wall has reached 65 percent completion, while settlement tank installation is progressing at 40 percent. In parallel, new sewerage and water pipeline works are underway and are expected to be completed within this week.

The Boduthakurufaanu Road Development Project is designed to significantly enhance mobility and accessibility in Malé City. The upgraded corridor will feature widened roads to ease long-standing traffic congestion, improved pedestrian walkways for safer movement, and a modern stormwater drainage system aimed at reducing flooding during heavy rainfall.
Public response to Phase 1 of the project, which was opened recently, has been notably positive. Residents and road users have praised the quality of workmanship, smoother traffic flow, and improved pedestrian safety, reinforcing confidence in the overall design and execution of the development.
As Ramadan approaches, the government has placed particular emphasis on completing Phase 2 within the promised timeframe to minimize disruption and improve daily travel for residents during the holy month. President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has reiterated that timely delivery of essential infrastructure remains a priority of his administration, with the Boduthakurufaanu Road upgrade standing as a key example of development commitments being translated into visible results for the public.
