Ooredoo Maldives successfully wrapped up the K. Huraa Masrace on August 22, marking another milestone in the company’s 20th anniversary celebrations. Team Baakee emerged as the overall champion, securing first place with an impressive 544.5 points and taking home the grand prize of MVR 25,000. Second place went to Team Nora with 489.8 points, earning MVR 10,000, while Team Anantara clinched third with 370 points and a prize of MVR 5,000.

In addition to the top rankings, standout individual performances were recognized through special awards:

  • Heaviest Catch: Malaaz of Team Anantara landed a 20.6 kg Faana (8 bar).
  • Best Fisherman: Ziyad from Club MTCC, who reeled in 36 fish, won a PIO Ultimate Sea Spirit/Gangster (H/D) rod, sponsored by Hai Fishing.
  • Best Fisherwoman: Ameena from STELCO Kanbalun caught 7 fish, earning the same premium rod sponsored by Hai Fishing.

Tradition Meets Celebration

Now in its 16th edition, the Masrace has grown into a household name across the Maldives, celebrated not only as a competition but as a cultural event that underscores the nation’s long-standing bond with the ocean. Ooredoo has positioned the tournament as more than just a sporting challenge—it is a celebration of fishing heritage, friendship, and community togetherness.

This year, the event series extends beyond K. Huraa. The upcoming Masrace in Sh. Funadhoo is set to continue the festivities, promising more excitement for fishing enthusiasts and communities across the country.

Corporate Milestone

As part of its 20th anniversary, Ooredoo Maldives has been actively rolling out events and initiatives designed to bring communities closer together. The Masrace stands out as a signature activity that reflects the company’s ongoing commitment to culture, tradition, and nationwide engagement.

Ooredoo Maldives extended congratulations to all winners and participants, reaffirming its commitment to building stronger community connections while celebrating the country’s maritime heritage.
