In an official statement, Ooredoo Maldives acknowledged the ongoing power failure and its potential effects on service continuity. The company reported that its main hub cell sites are operating on backup generators, while other sites are utilizing battery power to sustain services.
“We sincerely apologize for any inconveniences this may cause,” Ooredoo stated, expressing gratitude for customers’ understanding during the disruption.
Ooredoo Maldives has been proactive in enhancing its network resilience. According to its 2024 Annual Report, the company expanded its 5G network to cover 60% of the population, positioning itself as the largest 5G provider in the country.
