Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) organized a large-scale march titled ‘Fudhijje, Fundijje’ (translated as ‘Enough and Broke’) through the main streets of Malé. The demonstration saw active participation from numerous MDP leaders and a substantial gathering of supporters.
The MDP asserts that this march was convened to defend the nation’s constitution. Participants vocally demanded the resignations of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu and Home Minister Ali Ihusaan.

This protest follows recent constitutional amendments passed by the People’s Majlis. Notably, these changes include provisions that lead to the forfeiture of parliamentary seats if members switch parties and stipulate that foreign military personnel cannot be stationed in the Maldives without Majlis approval. Additionally, any alterations to Maldivian territory now require a two-thirds majority in the Majlis.
The MDP had previously organized a significant rally in Malé under the banner ‘Defense of the Constitution’. Tonight’s march concluded peacefully, with no reported interference from the Maldives Police Service.
