In a gesture of unity and tradition, the Maldives Police Service (MPS) hosted a special pre-dawn meal, Maahefun, to mark the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan. The gathering took place at Iskandar Building and was attended by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, along with key government officials and senior police officers.
The event saw participation from Homeland Security and Technology Minister Ali Ihsaan, Commissioner of Police Ali Shujau, Deputy Commissioners Ismail Naveen and Farhad Fikury, as well as senior officials from various state institutions. Police personnel from all ranks, along with civilian staff, joined in the gathering, reinforcing a sense of solidarity and spiritual preparation for the fasting month.
Maahefun is a long-standing Maldivian tradition that allows communities to come together in fellowship before the start of Ramadan. The police service’s participation in this practice highlights its commitment to fostering camaraderie and cultural values while upholding its role in ensuring peace and security during this significant time.
