In a meeting in GDh. Fiyoari during his visit to various islands in the Gaafu Alifu and Gaafu Dhaalu Atolls, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu assured that the ongoing power outage issues affecting the islands will be addressed before the upcoming Ramadan. The President highlighted that upon assuming office, it became apparent that the Fenaka power plants required significant updates.
Despite considerable investments made last year to tackle the outages, a lasting solution remained elusive. However, with Ramadan on the horizon, President Muizzu announced imminent changes to alleviate the power issues for affected islands.
He stated, “Fenaka, STELCO, and companies like MTCC are collaborating to resolve generator problems across all Maldivian islands. Our goal is to ensure no island is left without necessary power equipment.”
Acknowledging the complexity of this task, President Muizzu remarked, “God willing, within these two months, we aim to resolve the electricity issues across all our islands to ensure peace of mind during Ramadan. We strive to achieve this to your satisfaction.”
