President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has successfully concluded his official visit to the Republic of Estonia, marking the first time a Maldivian head of state has visited the Baltic nation.
During his stay, President Muizzu engaged in comprehensive discussions with Estonian President Dr. Alar Karis, focusing on strengthening bilateral relations and exploring collaborative opportunities in digital innovation, cybersecurity, e-governance, climate change mitigation, and education.
The visit also included meetings with key Estonian figures, such as the President of the Parliament, various ministers, the Mayor of Tartu, and representatives from academic and prominent institutions. These interactions aimed to align strategies and identify avenues for cooperation.
A significant outcome of the visit was the signing of memorandums of understanding on digitalization, environmental initiatives, and political consultations, signaling a new era of bilateral cooperation. President Muizzu expressed admiration for Estonia’s digital transformation, noting it as a global benchmark for efficient and transparent governance. He emphasized that enhancing digital governance in the Maldives remains a priority for his administration.
