President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has extended his congratulations to Mariyam Eshal Misbah for her remarkable achievement in shooting sports, after the young athlete secured a silver medal at the Asian Pistol and Rifle Cup 2025.
In a post on his official X (formerly Twitter) account, President Muizzu hailed the victory as a historic milestone, noting that Eshal is the first Maldivian athlete to win a silver medal in an Asian-level shooting competition.
The President also praised her outstanding performance, highlighting that the 15-year-old athlete outperformed competitors from 21 countries in a tournament contested by 23 nations across the region.
The Asian Pistol and Rifle Cup 2025 is currently taking place in Bangkok, Thailand, featuring top marksmen and women from across Asia’s competitive shooting circuit. Eshal, a student at Majeedhiya School, made history by clinching the silver medal in the junior women’s category, marking a new chapter for Maldives’ presence in international shooting sports.
