President Muizzu expresses solidarity with India after deadly Red Fort blast

By Ahmed Ashraf Published 2 hours ago

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic loss of lives in the powerful explosion that struck near New Delhi’s iconic Red Fort on Monday evening, killing at least eight people and injuring several others.

In a message posted on social media, President Muizzu stated that he was “deeply saddened by the tragic loss of lives in the blast in Red Fort, Delhi this evening.” He extended heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims and conveyed wishes for the swift recovery of those injured. “The Maldives stands in solidarity with the people and Government of India in this difficult time,” he wrote.

The explosion, which occurred near Gate No. 1 of the Red Fort Metro Station during peak evening hours, sparked widespread shock across India and prompted an immediate nationwide security alert. Indian authorities have launched a multi-agency investigation to determine the cause of the blast, while Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah have been briefed on the ongoing response.
