By Ahmed Ashraf Published September 23, 2025

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has expressed profound sorrow over the death of Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Abdullah Al Al-Sheikh, the Grand Mufti of Saudi Arabia and President of the Senior Scholars Council.

In a social media post, President Muizzu described the passing as a great loss to the Islamic world, noting Sheikh Abdulaziz’s role as a trusted advisor and a towering figure of scholarship who upheld the message of Islam from the pulpit of Arafat. The President prayed for God’s mercy upon him and for his eternal abode in the gardens of Paradise.

The President also extended heartfelt condolences to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, and the people of Saudi Arabia. He emphasized that the late Grand Mufti’s guidance and wisdom had strengthened the unity of the global Islamic community, and his absence marks the departure of one of the era’s most respected scholars.
