President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has conveyed warm Independence Day greetings to Indian President Droupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and the people of India, reaffirming the enduring partnership between the two nations.
In a message posted on X, the President described India as a “trusted development partner” of the Maldives and expressed hope that the 78th Independence Day celebrations would reflect the “spirit and achievements” of the Indian people.
President Muizzu noted the recent growth in high-level exchanges and people-to-people connections, underscoring the robust cooperation built over six decades of diplomatic relations. This year marks the 60th anniversary of formal ties between the Maldives and India, a milestone both countries have commemorated through expanded collaboration in infrastructure, trade, and cultural engagement.
