The MVR 36.03 million project has been awarded to MTCC and includes construction of an office building, detention facility, perimeter wall, and garage. The project is scheduled for completion within 360 days.

Officials said the establishment of a police station on the island, which has a population of 5,047, is expected to significantly enhance public safety, reduce crime, and support long term social stability.

Third Phase of Road Development Handed to MTCC

The third phase of the R. Dhuvaafaru Road Development Project was formally awarded to MTCC during a signing ceremony attended by senior government officials.

Valued at MVR 312.66 million, the project covers construction of 75 roads with a total length of 16.65 kilometres. Scope of work includes drainage systems, service line installation, natural drainage solutions, pavements, driving areas, and street lighting.

Once completed within 810 days, the project is expected to further modernise Dhuvaafaru’s road network, improving safety and mobility for both pedestrians and vehicles.

Outdoor Volleyball Court Project Entrusted to MTCC

Practical work also commenced on the R. Dhuvaafaru Outdoor Volleyball Court Development Project, which has been awarded to MTCC and was inaugurated by the Minister of Sports, Fitness, and Recreation, Abdulla Rafiu.

The MVR 1.24 million project includes ground levelling, concrete works, construction of a perimeter wall, and installation of sports equipment. Completion is scheduled within 120 days.

Authorities said the project responds directly to youth aspirations and will promote healthy lifestyles, community unity, and social engagement.

Waste Management Center Development Given to MTCC

Valued at MVR 1.76 million, the project includes renovation of the existing office building, construction of a hazardous waste storage facility, development of a warehouse, landscaping works, and repairs to the perimeter wall. The project is scheduled for completion within 120 days.

All projects launched and awarded in Dhuvaafaru have been entrusted to Maldives Transport and Contracting Company, with Managing Director Retired Deputy Commissioner of Police Ahmed Saudee attending the ceremonies alongside cabinet ministers, members of parliament, Commissioner of Police Ismail Naveen, Dhuvaafaru Council members, and senior government officials.
