On the occasion of the International Day of Families, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu emphasized the pivotal role of strong family units in driving the Maldives towards a prosperous future. In a message shared on his official X account, he highlighted that empowering Maldivian families, enhancing self-sufficiency, and improving living standards are essential steps for accelerated national development.
Extending his wishes for prosperity and well-being to every Maldivian household, President Muizzu underscored the significance Islam places on strengthening family ties. He noted that robust family bonds are intrinsically linked to national advancement.
The government’s commitment to family welfare is evident through several initiatives. These include the Aasandha healthcare system, expansion of Child and Social Protection Services, financial assistance to single parents, and extended paid maternity and paternity leaves. Such policies aim to fortify the family unit, ensuring children grow up healthy, educated, and ready to contribute meaningfully to the nation.
Furthering this commitment, plans are underway to establish a dedicated hospital for women and children within the current term, enhancing healthcare access for families across the Maldives.
President Muizzu’s message reflects a broader vision where empowered families are seen as the bedrock of a resilient and thriving nation.
