President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has inaugurated the newly constructed headquarters of the Maldives Correctional Service (MCS), marking a historic milestone in strengthening the country’s correctional infrastructure.
The inauguration ceremony, held within the Hulhumalé Prison compound, began with the President being received by Minister of Homeland Security and Technology Ali Ihusaan and Commissioner of Prisons Hussain Zareer. The President was accorded an honour guard before hoisting the national flag alongside the MCS flag.
President Muizzu officially opened the new facility through a remote unveiling of the name plaque, followed by signing the visitors’ book and touring the premises.
The newly established headquarters is the first purpose-built facility of its kind, constructed on a dedicated plot of land. Spanning 12,000 square feet across two storeys, it will serve as the central administrative hub for 15 departments and divisions, accommodating 175 staff members.
Completed within just 16 months, the project reflects the administration’s commitment to modernising state institutions and enhancing operational efficiency across the nation’s security and correctional services.
