President Dr Mohamed Muizzu said in a social media post that his administration places the highest priority on completing national projects, highlighting this commitment while announcing the inauguration of the new Haa Alifu Dhidhdhoo Islamic Centre. He extended his congratulations to the people of Dhidhdhoo as the centre opened with a mosque, an Islamic library, and a branch of the National Centre for Holy Quran.
In his post, the President said the government is working to open many mosques across the country before the upcoming month of Ramadan. He noted that about 15 mosque projects, built by the government and by charitable contributors in various islands, are targeted for completion before Ramadan. These include a mosque in Malé and several mosques in Hulhumalé Phase 2.
To address the shortage of permanent mosques in Hulhumalé Phase 2, the President added that construction work on additional permanent mosques will begin in December.
He said the purpose of developing mosques and Islamic centres is to strengthen Islamic unity across the Maldives and to promote guidance, light, and culture rooted in Islam. He ended his message with a prayer for success.
