In a remarkable display of commitment to his community, Qasim Ibrahim, the prominent Maldivian businessman and Member of Parliament for Maamigili, has overseen the construction of a new mosque on the island. The mosque, named Masjid Al-Dhikra, was completed in a swift 57 days, fulfilling a request from the island’s residents and council.
The foundation for Masjid Al-Dhikra was laid on December 14 of the previous year, with Qasim Ibrahim personally spearheading the project. This initiative is the latest in a series of philanthropic efforts by Ibrahim, who has a long history of funding community infrastructure across the Maldives, including schools, mosques, and healthcare facilities. Notably, he is currently working on establishing a general hospital in Maamigili, which will feature the country’s first dedicated cancer treatment facility.
Beyond his philanthropic endeavors, Qasim Ibrahim is recognized as the founder and chairman of the Villa Group, one of the largest business conglomerates in the Maldives. His contributions to both the economic and social sectors underscore his dedication to the nation’s development and the well-being of its citizens.
